Antwort
If the function »Save original Message« has been activated a copy of the original message including the Mail Header and all file attachments is saved. This copy is made directly after the reception and contains exactly the message in the form that it has been received without any conversion. It is stored in the comment file of the according Archive entry. With possible sending or reception problems the content of this file can give important notes for the bug fixing. To view this information in the comment file right-click on the corresponding document in the entry list in the David.InfoCenter and select the function »Original Message« from the »Extended« tab under properties from the context menu.

Note:
If you want to use this function please consider that the disk space on the hard disk of the server increases. Thus, in this case, eMails with file attachments require more than twice the disk space because the attachments are additionally saved in 7-Bit-format in which the transmission takes place.

If the oríginal message is not displayed this can be caused by the following:

  • It is an internal message
  • It is a message that has been received before the activation of the option »Save original Mesage«
  • The service »David PostMan« resp. »David Grabbing Server« has not been restarted after the modification
  • The option »Save original Message« has been activated at the "wrong" service. If, for example, the messsage are received with the David Grabbing Server resp. collected by the Provider then the option must also be activated in the settings of the Grabbing Server and not at the David PostMan.
